People ask about the name. Fair enough — it’s not immediately obvious. It started with a cartoon moose, some imagination, a failed attempt at writing a book, and the realization that we’re all a little bit mechanical and a little bit wild. Here’s the origin story, such as it is.
If you grew up watching a certain cartoon moose named Bullwinkle, you already have half the story. Moose and Squirrel. Boris and Natasha. Simon and Mr. Peabody. Dudley Do-Right. Add in a dash of steam punk and a love of the weird and not so serious or concise and clockwinkle and his forest friends…especially the bears…was born. I was feeling down. Saddened by the state of the world and powerless in the face of lots of ugliness. I imagined Clockwinkle as someone able to talk truth to power, point out absurdity, inspire change…even if just among the animals of the forest.
